Meet the Founders

Guy Rohkin is a molecular biologist and was the first employee at Girhilet, an immunorepertoire sequencing company and early cohort member of IndieBio. Stefani Robnett fell in love with crowdsourcing and open-source when she worked on uploading AI-generated roads onto OpenStreetMaps at Facebook. After experiencing archaic and fragmented communication in science first hand, they came together to work on an open-access initiative to bring any experiment from flask to fruition.

Replicating and using other peoples’ research is hard–and you’re not alone in that endeavor. Over 70% of researchers have tried and failed to reproduce another scientist’s experiments.

Open Science is a movement for increasing transparency and collaboration in research. We want researchers to communicate the “dark knowledge” of their work: the know-how, expertise, negative results, and other information that otherwise doesn’t fit into typical publication structures.
